“House Discontent with Johnson Surges due to Foreign Aid ‘Madness’ at the Expense of Southern Border Neglect”
The dissatisfaction among House Republicans towards Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is increasing, with Reps. Scott Perry (R-PA) and Jim Banks (R-IN) expressing their frustrations. Banks criticized Johnson’s foreign aid framework as “insanity” for allocating over three times more money to Ukraine than to Israel while neglecting the U.S. Southern border.
Perry shared an image of the framework on X, revealing that it allocates $48.83 billion to Ukraine, $14.1 billion to Israel, $2.4 billion to “Red Sea Operations,” $2.58 billion to “INDOPACOM,” and $3.3 billion to a “Submarine Industrial Base.”
Perry criticized Speaker Johnson for not including any border security measures in the four bills he plans to push through this week, despite promising the American people otherwise. Sharing Perry’s concern, Banks called the package “Insanity,” highlighting the disproportionate allocation of funds to Ukraine over Israel and the neglect of the U.S. Southern border.
Perry and Banks have criticized the four bills, with support from Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Andy Biggs, who oppose the MIRV rule proposed by Speaker Johnson to combine the bills. Biggs emphasized on X that Israel funding should be considered independently from Ukraine funding.
