The Charade of the Trumps Trial Continues with Bias Judge and Jury

Published

on

According to reports, New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan has allowed a juror, who reportedly celebrated former President Donald Trump‘s loss in the 2020 election on social media, to remain in the jury pool.

Trump‘s highly unusual trial commenced on Monday with the commencement of jury selection, marking the first day of a process anticipated to last up to two weeks and potentially extend until June.

During Tuesday’s jury selection proceedings, Trump‘s defense attorneys sought to disqualify a potential juror due to her apparent celebration of Trump‘s defeat in 2020, as reported by Fox News.

“They attempted to exercise a peremptory challenge to remove the juror on the basis that she claimed impartiality but had social media posts allegedly indicating her celebration of Trump‘s loss in 2020,” Trace Gallagher reported. “However, the judge ruled against this, stating that she could indeed remain impartial and thus allowed her to remain.”

As of Tuesday, six jurors had been selected, with six more potential jurors still required to complete the jury panel.

Matthew Colangelo, an ex-Biden Justice Department official, delivered the prosecution’s opening statement on Monday in the Trump criminal trial.

Colangelo a former senior DOJ official who spent years targeting Trump at his previous job.

Bragg didn’t hire Colangelo for his white-collar prosecutorial experience, which was lacking at the time. Instead, he valued Colangelo’s broad knowledge of the Trump Organization, particularly during Bragg’s efforts to ramp up prosecution against Trump. Colangelo previously worked for Attorney General Letitia James, who investigated Trump for three years before filing a major civil lawsuit against him and the Trump Organization in late 2022.

During his tenure with Letitia James’s office, Colangelo played a significant role in Trump’s civil case and spearheaded federal initiatives. These efforts included filing lawsuits against the Trump administration and investigating the Trump Foundation.

“This is a witch hunt and it’s a shame and it comes out of Washington,” former President Donald Trump. “It’s in coordination with Washington, everything, including the DA’s office, it’s in coordination with Washington.”

Colangelo’s Democratic Party roots are extensive. He served in the Obama administration as a senior official in the Labor Department and later transitioned to Biden’s DOJ, where he was appointed as acting associate attorney general upon Biden’s inauguration. In this role, as the third-highest-ranking official, Colangelo supervised several divisions, including Civil, Civil Rights, Antitrust, and Tax.

Donald Trump voiced his support for Israel following Iran’s launch of long-range drones at the country. He stressed that such an attack would not have occurred under his presidency, expressing his belief that Israel’s security would have been better protected if he were still in office.

“ISRAEL IS UNDER ATTACK! This should never have been allowed to happen – This would NEVER have happened if I were President!” Trump wrote.

Iran’s attack on Israel is viewed as retaliation following Israel’s airstrike on April 1, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven senior Iranian military officials in Damascus, Syria, and the destruction of the consular section of the Iranian embassy.
